I forgot about Tokyo Game show. I knew it was in September, but I didn't know when. Guess it was this weekend. I've never played the Final Mix, STILL haven't fully completed COM:RE OR 358/2, but this pack would give me good opportunity to do so.

Assuming, of course, that it gets past Japan. Probably will this time since the latter two games were released in the NA.

Re: Chain of Memories commentary: Vexen is VEXING

Took long enough, huh? Like, many many MOONS. But, with 358/2 just beginning, I figured, why not come back to this. It's time to catch up a wee bit! :D Comments will be numbered because it's easier that way. Then again, I've always done that.

1. I can't really stress this enough, but there is a reason why Vexen is 1. That one Boss on TV Tropes and 2. On my Top Ten Epic battles list. GRAGH. A lovely battle though. Vexen is a delight to watch in combat. All that lovely white and blue. Eh, they should have sent a poet.

2. Nice Vexen card.

3. Put Riku back? Apparently, he's a toy.

4. HOLY Balls! Axel! Honestly, this was much better than in the Japanese version, but I still feel like the GBA COM was the best one. Axel was MUCH more brutal in that version. "Now you can say I don't respect my elders!" Slice, dice, julienne Vexen! This doesn't happen in this version, but LORDY "Good-bye" and the WAY he said it knocked the Japanese version out of the ballpark! Axel looked like he wanted to BBQ Vexen. BAHAHAHHA!!

5. I can't believe Larxene EVER questioned Axel's, well, anything really. ERrrrr...she keeps "laying hands" on him and he keeps looking like he wants to KILL HER. Larxene: It'll be like child's play with the three of us.Axel: No, just me.

6. And heeeeeere's Riku! Or, his replica with fabricated memories. Not that Sora knows that. Either way, Riku is FIERCE in combat.

7. How can two people have the same memory? Well, if they were in the same place at the same time... . Oh yea, ask Namine. I'm sure she'll help. :D Oh no...Sora!? Fools rush in where wise men fear to tread, boy!

8. Oh no. Namine is alone with Axel, and yea, he knows what buttons to push. We know you're ENJOYING this, meanie! "This'll be a hell of a show", indeed. "Something else"? I'm not so sure about that one. ;)

9. I never thought about it until now, but isn't Sora the victim of gaslighting? Messing with his memories, giving misinformation,misleading him, tricking him? When I first saw/played this game, I never even thought of such a term. Interesting that it comesup NOW. Gaslighting is a pretty evil thing to do to someone, ORG 13. Eh, like they care.

10. Grindfest at Destiny Islands. Hooray!

Hopefully, I'll come up with some better commentary later. I'm a bit rusty with this game! :)

Birth By Sleep and a three year old blog.

Got a little curious about the release date of Birth By Sleep and found that according to Amazon: This item will be released on December 31, 2010.

Uh huh. Last game of the year and the "lead off game" for 2011. Interesting. I haven't gone anywhere NEAR

I still have Vexen to beat on RE: COM and 358/2 to start. The latter game has been out for about seven months, so I'm not that far behind, but I know that much of fandom has already beaten that game.

Can you believe that this blog has been around for THREE years. This month is this Blog's three year anniversary! It's been quite awhile and yet this blog still feels very new to me! Odd, eh? I guess it's because the "To Do" list is still miles long. This blog was originally supposed to be about the characters, but it just ended up going EVERYWHERE. I do have character posts in older entries in case anyone is interested. I don't know when any new ones will pop up.

According to TV Tropes, Vexen is THAT ONE BOSS in Chain of Memories. I can see why. He moves like a figure skater and always seems to have the right cards at the right times. He fights surpisingly well, and I consider it a "glorious battle" even though it's also a "TEAR MY HAIR OUT BATTLE". Both Vexen fights are like this. Geez. I've gained a lot of respect for him because of this, but I still love how Marluxia can put the fear of God into him. Bwhaaha.

Vexen

Vexen fights beautifully, and it wouldn't surprise me if he were some sort of figure skater. Still, I'm one of the few who is having trouble with him. I even had difficulty in the first incarnation. I guess he's supposed to be that way to make the next scene all the more cathartic. Heh. Kind of like Battle of 1000 Heartless, but much, MUCH nastier. HEEE! I will always prefer the Skies of Memory version though because it's even harsher than in the remake! Hah!

Star Ocean 2 has eaten me now, and this game is one of the most addictive games--EVER. It makes Kingdom Hearts look like tea. So, that's one of the reasons why the latest on my gameplay for Re:Chain of Memories has been so sparse.

I have not touched 358/2 and don't intend to for quite some time. I could always play it while the PSP is charging, but I've never done well with "juggling games".

Hopefully, I'll be able to defeat 2nd Vexen shortly. The key to Chain of Memories: RE is to NOT give up.

2nd Batch of Old Skies of Memory Comments

This is also from 100 years ago, and I don't think my opinions have changed much. Guess we'll have to see since I'm slooowww...oh well, there's no rush here. This is the final set of commentary for "Skies of Memory". I'm glad they posted it on YouTube. Of course there are SPOILERS, but this isn't from the Remake, so there shouldn't be any problems.

1. Hmm...the final battle sure was pretty. And Marluxia died dramatically. Not a surprise there. Pretty flowers too. I like pretty.

2. Jesus, what's with these assholes who keep saying shit like "More pink and more petals for Marluxia. How masculine." Oh yea, because we should all be put into boxes of how others think of a person should be because of their gender. Yea, his element is flower, but that's an EARTH element. Since when does that make someone automatically "girly" (because we all know that girly=weak. HUURRRR)? I just think Marluxia doesn't fall into "gender roles", so to speak. I also think he's straight.

3. I think Zexion is worse than Axel. Axel radiates fabulousness, but Zexion just gives me the creeps. I think it has to do with the WAY he manipulates. With Axel, it's fun, it's glorious, it's beautiful. With Zexion, it's just chilling in every way. No wonder [info]rabbitprint likes him and Vexen so much. ;)

4. All I can say about the Riku replica is that I hope that he gets his own life and creates his own memories.

5. Did I mention that Axel is beautifull? Yes, I believe I did. "Sorry, Zexy." Bwhahahhahaa. How fitting that the replica was the one who killed him. Course it would have been even more poetic if Vexen were killed by him, but you take what you can get. And I don't blame Axel for preferring to observe Riku and Sora. Kind of a no brainer there. I wonder what Axel will do with his new "toy". He seems to like having "pets" heehehe.

6. "Axel is a murderer! Axel is a murderer"! A blooblablooblabloo. Christ. He IS an assassin, right? I just don't know what people expected him to do. He was surrounded by enemies and people who didn't care about him one way or the other. Besides Zexion KNEW Axel couldn't be trusted. Hell, all three of the "Elders" knew it, so how could "Zexy" act all surprised that he ended up BURNED? I guess he didn't know how far darling could or would go.

7. DiZ? WTF? DiZ? The masked nightmare? He was the one who guided Riku? Sheesh.

8. Geez, poor Twin. He clearly had thoughts and feelings of his own. Why couldn't he have seen that? He might have been created artificially, but if he feels, then those are real.

9. Riku looks great in Org 13 clothes, but Mickey still looks ridiculous. Course I think they should have had outfits of their own. Leave those lovely coats to Axel and Demyx. :D

10. "The Path to Dawn" makes me think of a novel. Heh. The choosing of both light and dark(or neither) reminds me of learning to love your shadow self because oftentimes, a negative emotion can be used for positive things and vice/versa. I know that should be a no-brainer, but you'd be amazed at how simplistic people can be.

Old Commentary for Skies of memory

Before I FINALLY get started on the COM: RE, I'll be posting my old commentary for Skies of Memory. This is from a hundred years ago, so opinions might have changed a bit, but I doubt it. WATCH OUT FOR ANY SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED COM or seen skies of memory. Then again, if you're concerned about that, then this post can easily be ignored. Heh. Anyway:

1. Like I said before, I LIKE Larxene. She's certainly not that dumb, and I like her savage playfulness. It's cute.

2. Oh Axel, you're fucking beautiful. Way to make Vexen beg. Gorgeous. However, I think that if Axel wanted to lead the Organization(I doubt he ever did, but you never know with him), he'd rather be the ONLY one to do it(it's painfully obvious that he's very dominant). Not share power with two of those who are obviously younger than he is and lower in Org Rank. Of course Axel has it in him to kill Vexen and god knows who else(except for Demyx/Roxas, of course). I don't know why that was questioned.

3. Speaking of younger, I think Marluxia is the youngest in the group(yea, I think Larxene is older), and yet he rules the Castle. Pretty impressive, if I do say so myself.

4. Did I mention that Axel was beautiful? But I do agree with him about Namine. She COULD do something. I mean, for fuck's sake, she could at least try. One thing though, I don't think it was necessary to beat people in the head about how Axel is playing all sides. I think it was obvious. Course Axel is very animated, so I'm not too surprised that he acted the way he did. I just think it would have been better if he just took a couple steps and then smiled. Eh, that's probably not an "Axelism" though. That's something Demyx or someone much colder would do, imo.

5. I think Namine is way too hard on herself though. Of course she should accept some of the responsability, but she was used by EVERYONE. There's only so much one could do in a situation like that.

6. Yowza, Larxene sure loves to talk. I'm surrpised Axel didn't shut HER up. Then again, I'm sure her explaining everything suited him just fine.

7. Hmm...even here, ORG members are getting screwed with barely any screentime. Yea, it's more than what SOME got in KH2(well, going from what I've heard), but I do think that things seem to be happening all too quickly. Geez, am I THAT spoiled with 60+ hour games? Heh.

8. What I love is the half-truths that come out of darling Axel's mouth. Namine technically turned, but it was because of HIM. As for Zexion, he HAS to be aware that Axel can't be trusted. And I'd rather not know what Marluxia did with Namine when he approached her.

9. "I always follow orders, Marluxia". Yea, the hell you do, Axel. I love how he twists things. Seems Marluxia holds his own against him though. Course I think the talk about disloyality is both ironic and could easily show the dichotomy of Axel himself. Fire is treacherous, but it can also be described as loyal(the sun is always there for you. At least until it goes nova and destroyed everything. Heh). Do I think he's loyal to the Organization? Fuck no, but I think it's obvious that he's capable of fierce loyalty. Or rather being the sort who will never leave you. Or, if you want to get scary, never let you go.

10. I think Axel is aware that Roxas came from Sora, but I can't be sure.

11. Five bucks says Zexion is killed by Axel. Yet I don't seem to mind because I don't think any Org member in the Castle is any better than the other. Course it doesn't help that I couldn't give a shit about Vexen, Lexaeus, and Zexion. I'll thrown in Saix too while I'm at it.

YAY! FInally!

I finally snagged a copy of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories remake! JOY! It's expected I'd be late with this since I always am, but once I get this game, expect similar updates to 2007. That is, quite a bit of them. I haven't forgotten stuff on the "to-do" list, but a lot of those will probably be delayed, as usual. Or maybe not. Will have to see, but for now? It's all Chain of Memories. I know that I have commentary from Youtube, but I'll be linking/reposting to see if my opinions have changed. I doubt it, but it's fun to compare/contrast then and now.

So tomorrow is the big day!

The COM: RE is coming out tomorrow. There's sure to be a lot of posts all about it on Youtube and in the fandom in general. The "Big 3" sites have already mentioned it. As for me, well, I didn't pre-order it because I chose to pre-order Persona 4 first(first come, first serve sort of thing) and I knew that it wasn't a good idea to get both since it's the Holidays. Plus, with Persona 4 you GET MORE even if it is more expensive. So, really, Chain of Memories can wait.

Still, this IS a Kingdom Hearts blog, I love Kingdom Hearts, and RE: COM is not Coded, so of course I'll be getting it soon enough. Probably around Christmas since the best things in life are free. Har. Then again, I tend to change my mind sometimes too. Axel is just too enticing. He was glorious in COM even though he seemed rather neutered in the remake.

I'm sure Quinton Flynn will shine as usual. Axel is such a show stealer. EHehehe.

I just read on KHInsider that ALL three new Kingdom Hearts games will be featured at the 2009 Jump Festa. In other news, water is wet, there is STILL nothing new on Demyx, and COM:RE will be out tomorrow. JOY!

Chain of Memories remake preview! YAY!

Oh, I'm not saying anything about it because I already know what to expect since I've already seen most of the Japanese version. Speaking of which, I still haven't completed any commentary on it, but as mentioned in a far away previous post, I don't have to now. The only difference would be the voices and some of the translation, I'm sure, so it's really no big deal.

Once, I get the game though, I will obviously start on "thoughts" from the beginning while posting/re-linking stuff I've said in the past. Maybe my thoughts will be different, maybe not. But, it'll be fun to finally PLAY Chain of Memories instead of just watching it all on Youtube.

Sure, that place is a godsend, but it doesn't replace actually PLAYING the game.

In less than a month, COM will be out. I don't know if I'll pre-order or not. It's just a question of wait and see.

The cynic in me says that it's a cruel rumor. The idealist in me says that it's very possible and I will be pleased. But, to be safe, I'm not getting my hopes up nor will I wallow in despair.

If it comes to NA, then of course I will be very happy and won't have to rely on Youtube this time around. If not, then that wouldn't surprise me at all. According to KH Insider, it's all over the web. Now THAT doesn't surprise me.

You can just tell that Larxene ADORES tormenting Namine.

Poor Namine, she looks like a wet puppy left out in the rain. Not that I blame her. You can also tell that she's no fan of Larxene's. Yea, big wonder why.

Sure, if's "deplorable"...as long as SOMEONE else is doing it/orchestrating it. Even then, neither of them take Axel very seriously at all. When they say "Our Leader", I'm assuming that they mean Marluxia, right? Because I don't see why they wouldn't want Xemnas to have Sora. Oh, wait. They know that Marluxia is up to, so they figure that if Xemnas can't have Sora, then Marluxia certainly shouldn't either, and who better to stop Sora (and ultimately Marluxia) then through Riku. Hurrr. Or, rather, the Replica. Either one is probably fine with them.

Sheesh, I'm not reading very carefully because they DON'T want to destroy Sora. Not out of any "good intent", of course, but rather since he's already "subverted", then they figure that he's useless to them and useful to Marluxia, so throw a "monkey wrench" at his plans. Hmmm...I think they either act too quickly or too slowly. They KNOW that Axel can't be trusted, but then they just think that he's some kind of joke, even though they KNOW that he killed Vexen, and they had to have been aware that Axel is no ally. I guess it's "dramatic irony". Or, rather, it's HUBRIS. Now, that wouldn't surprise me one bit since Zexion is practically the poster child for Malignant Cerebral Narcissism.

It's been too long. Last time I saw this on YouTube, it was the GBA version, "Skies of Memory" and even then, I was too busy thinking of what Axel did to Vexen, so, I'm kind of doing some mental gymnastics here.

Remake COM Reverse Rebirth Basement 6

Basement Six.

There's no real basement here, except for Vexen crawling up to "topside" from his dungeon. Huurrrr... "topside".

I like the way Axel handles Vexen, though. Just curt, no nonsense, and not intimidated by an "Elder" who considers him disrespectful. Not that I'd blame Vexen for feeling that way, but it's been made clear that he seldom got along with the "Neophytes".

As for the Replica, I thought it was Vexen who approached him. Blarg, I don't remember, but I guess I shouldn't be too surprised that it turned out to be Larxene in the remake.

Maybe I'm seeing things here, but when Vexen is saying "it must be done", it looks like Axel is glaring holes in his back. I doubt he cares about the Replica either way, so I don't think that's it. I guess the "no love lost" is mutual. Well, duh, considering that HE DID kill Vexen and LIKED IT.

It's also interesting to note that when Larxene zaps Replica, Vexen looks at her, but Axel never even glances away. He doesn't even move. Then again, why would he want to look at Larxene?

She's still a Goddess though. Beautifully sadistic.

Poor Namine, she's so horrified, but completely helpless.

RE: COM Basement Dweller Floor 7.

I finally found some YouTube vids featuring the upper basement floors with subtitles. KHInsider did them, from what I've read. Yay! So, now I can finally give some more commentary! Geez, it's been like...almost a YEAR? Yikes! How fast time flies!

Yea, I could tell the "fake" from the real one. The Replica looks like a PSYCHOPATH. Of COURSE he wouldn't be afraid of anything. Sheesh. However, that sort of fearlessness isn't courage, it's just foolhardiness. You have to FEEL fear to be courageous and then act in spite of the fear. Good luck telling the Replica that though.

At any rate, Riku is just great. He's always been more interesting than Sora.

Zexion...oh god

I have yet to see Zexion's death(It'll be a site to behold, I'm sure), but people at KH Insider AND at KH2.net have been claiming that Zexion may still be alive. Yes, THAT again. This theory has been doing the rounds for a looooong time. I guess a lot of his fans really want him to have somehow survived because that would be one hell of a middle finger to Axel.

Think about it. EVERYONE in the Organization is no longer alive, including Axel. Roxas is within Sora, so if Zexion DID somehow survive, then this would mean that Axel's deeds would have been for nothing. Wherever Axel is, I can't imagine him being too pleased that a bitter enemy SURVIVED and doing God knows what to cause trouble, and Axel would be powerless to stop it since he gave up his own life to save Sora. If Zexion survived, then what would he have been doing in KH2? His ability is Illusion. This could mean that other deaths might have been faked too, and he somehow made everyone believe that they died.

Then, he could easily pit people against the other. What would be real? What wouldn't be? Who would Zexion help? Who would he hinder(Axel, probably)? Could Roxas and Namine merging with their "Others" somehow play into his hands?


It'd be interesting to watch, that's for sure, but I think it'd be a huge slap in the face if Zexion did end up surviving somehow.

Oh my! That was an oopsie!

The Final Battle song isn't "Graceful Assassin", it's actually "Lord of the Castle." Still, that doesn't change the fact that Marluxia has the best battle music.

Nice! Of course, I picked up "Graceful Assassin" since that was the music used for Marluxia third form, and the absolute best of ALL the songs on the OST, imo. Who knew that Marluxia would steal Xemnas' thunder in terms of Final Battles? Heh.
