Top Five reasons why Demyx is so popular!
I just thought of this when I paid yet another visit to TV Tropes. Someone there mentioned that Demyx was basically treated as a one note character in 358/2, and because of that, couldn't understand why he is so popular(Demyx has always rivaled Axel and Roxas in terms of popularity). I can tell you why. I can give you five reasons why. Easily, in fact.
Top Five Reasons why Demyx is SOOO popular.
1. He's cute. Yes, he is very cute. Fandom can be pretty shallow, and nine times out of ten, an underdeveloped good-looking character trumps a developed not so good looking one. The mullet helps a lot too.
2. Plays the sitar/stringed instruments and has a rock star image about him. Fandom loves this.
3. He is expressive. This is one of the reasons why he stands out in Organization 13. He and Axel are considered the most emotional of Org 13. Not bad for those who "lack hearts"(that depends on what you mean by "heart" though). He's either a damned good actor or he really does have a greater range of emotions that most of Org 13. Fandom eats this for breakfast.
4. He is far less evil that other Organization members. The way he "fades" hints this because he fades into light. No one else in Org 13 does. At least not that I recall. Whatever the case, he's different. Fandom likes different.
5. Those who provide comic relief are often very popular, especially IF THEY'RE CUTE. It helps that it's widely believed that there's more to him than you think. More fan fodder.
See? Easy.

KH2 is easy but what was the 'hardest' part??
Asked on KH INsider.
I've already addressed some of this in old posts, but I have no problem repeating it. I don't think I had a "hardest part", unless you counted Xigbar, but I'd say that these three things would be the "hardest":
1. Demyx. Not only was he the first really difficult fight, there was some, er, sentimental reasons behind it too since he's obviously among my favorites. With him, it takes a lot of luck to beat him thanks to those water clones.
2. Space Paranoids. The MCP proved to be a challenge thanks to the shields and the damaging attacks, but there were some parts that were puzzling and a huge pain in the butt. I blocked out those memories.
3. Xigbar. I always said he was hell on earth and my opinion hasn't changed. Fighting him was the only time when I had to backtrack to level up, and then I had to make sure that I didn't get too close to him too often while he shot on poor Sora. Loads of fun.
4. Xaldin. Even though I did better against him than I thought, he will always have a special place in my heart for being difficult.
And that's really about it. Not even a top anything, but something I wanted to answer a little in depth here.

YAY Finally!
Better late than never! The copy of COM: RE is here! Joy! I haven't started it yet though. Go figure. I mean, I just got the copy today. Others have probably already beaten it.
And now Demyx. Yes, there's a little more of him now. BEYOND THIS IS SPOILERS. Not interested in those? Then, don't read beyond this. Yea, that'll stop people, especially not Demyx fans. This wasstolen borrowed from http://www.kh-n.com/:
Olympus Coliseum
Roxas and Demyx go to Olympus Colisseum to defeat Heartless in order to collect hearts.
The battle's activity, in result, seemed to have worried Demyx....?
Also, when Phil sees Roxas fight, he mistakens him as his own apprentice candidate.
Furthermore, Demyx's sitar has two different graphic designs that are open to the public.
Phil: "You sir said something about Herc, the apprentice candidate? At a glance, it's obvious when I see his battle style." ***
Phil: "T-that's strange.... Now that you mentioned it, Roxas!"
Phil: "Ok, first basic thing you need to know... Concentrate! You need to be able to concentrate!!"
Demyx: "Is heart collecting, today's mission? Haa... Why am I weak at battling....?" ****
Demyx: "Quit joking! You won't find me in a battle alone."
(What? He's not making any sense here. I know that Tomogirl had some difficulty translating, but Demyx is contradicting his words with future actions. It's obvious that he doesn't like fighting, but he doesn't shrink from it when he has to. BUT, wasn't he alone when he fought Sora and co. in Kingdom Hearts 2? And then the, "waaa...why am I so weak?" Come on, Demyx is obviously a "lost puppy" sort and they tend to play stupid when they don't want to do something. Whatever. There's still time before 358/2 comes out. Plus, there's still nothing on Luxord, so info on him should be coming up soon).

ABOUT DAMNED TIME!!
INFO ON DEMYX! INFO ON DEMYX!
YAY!! Thanks KH-Insider and Kingdom Hearts Network. It's a scan though, but Demyx looks so cute as usual, and it looks like he sticks around Olympus. Course it wouldn't surprise me if he were involved in Atlanticia too. He does fight with Roxas, but that's true with all Org members.
Now to wait for any translations.
So, I guess Luxord would be Port Royal. Durrr...

Still nothing on Demyx?
There's quite a lot of info floating around about 358/2, BBS(I don't expect Demyx here), and even KH THREE(Can't wait to hear the announcement about that one), but there's still no sign of Demyx.
Not that he's the only one shut out(Nothing on Luxord either and other Org members are mentioned in passing), but I just find it odd that there's not even a screenshot of him in the multiplayer mode of 358/2. I'm surprised since he's one of the more popular members, but then again, 358/2 won't be coming out until months later, so it's just a wait and see sort of thing.
It's Demyx/Saix day today, but as I mentioned last year, I don't tend to 'ship them.

Demyx red flags
I wonder if Demyx would have some 'red flags' of his own. Yea, probably so, but they'd be the whiny manipulative ones. I've always believed that Demyx was every bit as manipulative as Axel.

FSTs(Fandom Soundtracks)
It's been awhile since I've made one, and these ones are among the last I've made in a long time. They feature Axel/Demyx/Roxas and Organization 13. They're songs that I think would work for them. It should be obvious why I kept the "Golden Trio" separate.
Part 1 (Standard Issue).
Part 2(Golden Trio. Or, rather "Wild Boys")
They are good sized as far as Fandom Soundtracks go.

Demyx/Roxas Day!
So, the last pairing day is the adorable Demyx/Roxas. Awww....
It's not a common pairing, but it's cute, especially in the manga, it seems. Demyx was sad that Roxas was gone. :(
Then again, Demyx/Roxas is simply more than an offshoot of Axel/Demyx/Roxas.

Demyx/Marluxia
Oh, 9/11. It's a pairing that makes sense in terms of elements, in personality? Not so much. Besides, there's Larxene too, and Marluxia/Larxene work well together. Oh Yes.
Another headspace "fanon" thing of mine:
Demyx is spoiled. Yes.

Demyx Day! YAY!
So for Demyx day, I shall list five Demyx "headspace" facts. All this means is that I will be writing five of my own "self-fanon" facts about him.
1. Before losing his Heart, he was a high paid teen model, and of course, a talented musician. He bought his first car(a Porsche-type) when he was sixteen. At that time, he was making six figured sums. Needless to say, he was happy. He pretty much had it all, and grew up loved, cared for, and well disciplined despite being spoiled. Sixteen was his best and worst year as he lost his heart a few months after getting his car.
2. No, he isn't stupid. Far from it. However, he does suffer from disabilities due to brain damage while he was still a fetus.
3. Demyx perfectly despised Axel at first. In fact, he wasn't comfortable with any of them, except for Xigbar, and even then, not too much. His first impression of Axel was that "he looked like he wanted to eat me, and really believed that he could." He tried to avoid Axel for a month, but failed when he ended up making enemies. Axel, long in a similar situation and always wanting to "score" with Demyx, took advantage of that.
4. In all the Organization, Demyx is fairly close to Xigbar and Luxord, was a friend of Marluxia's(also a cause of tension between Axel and Demyx), and is ultimately closet to Axel and Roxas. Course, in the case of Axel, he doesn't always want to be. He is distant, but respectful to Xemnas and Xaldin. He detests "The Four Horseman of the Asscopolypse"(Vexen, Lexaeus, Zexion, and Saix) and avoids Larxene as though she is AIDS in human form.
5. Demyx is the only person in the Organization capable of genuine kindness, and he is the only one who believes that they still have Hearts. Everyone, especially Axel, knows that Demyx knows better. Roxas claims that Demyx just "doesn't want to be mean like the rest of them". Demyx is far from an angel, but is also by far the most humane member of Organization 13, and that fact has pissed off many members, especially Axel and Saix.

No, he doesn't have a duel personality or MPD. He's just one of the more complex members of the Organization.
Can't wait for Demyx month.

Which Org member do I feel the most "sowwy" for.
Over at Kh-vids.net, someone had asked which Organization members we felt the sorriest for. Most people said Axel(gee, I wonder why), and I was a bit nauseated at the amount of Zexion and Vexen answers. Sheesh. Anyway, here was my answer:
Demyx. He was a musician, and you'd need a "Heart" to be effective at it. Even if he still felt(he's said to be the most emotional Nobody, next to Axel), he wasn't complete and it would have made things difficult for him and his music. He was surrounded by malicious people, many of whom were probably his enemies, and he's never shown to be anywhere near as cruel as the others. He could easily have been one of the most complex/important characters in the game, but he's shafted.
As for Axel, it's damned near impossible to feel any sympathy for him because he's largely unsympathetic, and it's even hard to care about his friendship with Roxas or what he wants. One of the posters pretty much had the right idea in that he wouldn't want sympathy anyway. He neither needs it nor deserves it. Whatever the case, given his actions, he brought his own problems on himself, so it's pretty difficult to care about his "pain".
And that's pretty much it. At least for now.

Character months
I guess the Axel/Roxas vids just aren't going anywhere...Oh well.
Anyway, the KH fandom tends to do fandom things by MONTHS. This month was supposed to be "Zexion Month", and it turned out to be uneventful. Next month is Saix month, and it will be an interesting and eventful one, that's for sure. I hope Saix likes Harry Potter because both the latest movie and the final book will be out that month. And, of course July 4th is Saix/Vexen day! YAY for the few fans of that pairing(I'm one of them). Saix/Axel day should be pretty interesting too. But, July has always been an eventful month in terms of movies, books and, of course summer things. I wonder what day the full moon falls on. Also, a new wave of "Springkink" on LJ starts that month too.
However, since Saix is not worshiped in the fandom, I don't expect much from them, but the first week should yield some results. Still, July is always an interesting month.
August will be dreadful for those who hate Axel. Days I'm interested in would be the 9th, and the 13th(Oh christ, Axel/Roxas day....aaaaag). Whatever day, I expect a TON of Axel stuff in August. However, August itself is not very eventful at all unless you count Band Camp(something I did in High School) or school starting. Otherwise, there isn't much going on, except for The Burning Man, which overlaps into September, and the Sturgis Biker Rally if you're a biker. Heh. I can't forget that since I lived in South Dakota as a little girl and Bikers tend to go to South Dakota in droves during August.
Fandom, however, will explode with Axel stuff, I'm sure. Oh, and I got into the fandom around August 19th, and I became a member of Something Awful around that time too. Heh.
September is Demyx month! YAY, and it's fairly eventful in terms of Greek festivals, Labor Day weekend, Dragon Con(if you're into that sort of thing), my birthday(Hey, it's eventful to me!). Course beyond the first ten days, nothing seems to happen that I know of. As for fandom expectations, I also think that there'll be lots of fandom stuff since Demyx is part of the "Golden Trio". In terms of pairings, Xigbar/Demyx, Zexion/Demyx, and my favorite, Axel/Demyx will be the days to watch if you're not choosy in who to pair him with. Oh, and I just remembered, Southern Decadence is in September. That's Mardi Gras for gays, but that's also during Labor Day weekend.
Incedently, most of Demyx fandom stuff explodes in the first thirteen days, so like the month itself, nothing much happens beyond the end of early September. Then again, you never know with the KH fandom, and the Demyx wing tends to flap insanely when they get the chance to, so will see.
Luxord is October, the heart of Autumn, Oktoberfest, Mullet Festival, and of course, Halloween. However, he is also not well loved in the fandom, so I expect little.
I think we all know what's beyond that, and I do expect a little more in the Marluxia and Larxene months because of the COM Remake.

Top Five most PAINFULLY DIFFICULT BATTLES in Kingdom Hearts 2
Yes, just like the title says. Not from the Final Mix, mind you, because I don't have a copy, but from the original version. Generally, KH2 was an easy game. Anytime I had any trouble, it was because of my own stupidity rather than genuine difficulty, but that doesn't change the fact that some of the battles were downright painful. So, here are the top Five most hairpulling, frustrating, AAAAAGH-inducing battles in Kingdom Hearts 2. For the record, I'm not including the optional boss fights, like Sephiroth.
Five:
MCP and Sark--I thought it was the "Hostile Program", but I guess not. Suck, I mean Sark(I've actually called him ballsack in the past), is pathetically easy, so he's not the problem. Not even when he's 34219598 feet tall. The problem is the MCP itself. You have to defeat Sark first and then break through the walls to even get near the MCP. Worse yet, if you're too late in breaking a wall or Sark wakes up, you have to start the whole cycle again. Not to mention that MCP's attacks can be very damaging.
Four:
Luxord. Yes, Luxord. You can stop laughing now. What made him so hard was that it took a lot of getting used to. Only Demyx was this unique. Actually, Luxord's was probably the most unique, and hard for me. The problem was turning into a die, timing, knowing which buttons to push, and god help you if you got them wrong. Worse yet, when you think you're close to beating him, you're not, so it's all the more painful when you DO lose. Gah.
Three:
Demyx. Over on Portal of Evil, someone was wondering "When did Kingdom Hearts 2 get so hard"? He was referring to Demyx, also known as "Gay Water Man". Others on POE also complained about him. His water clones, ESPECIALLY in the second summoning, the bubbles that never seem to miss, the fact that he's fast, and hard to catch make him one of the most difficult major KH2 battles EVER!!!!!!!!!!1111 Some people will tell you that he was easy. Yea, right. They were either overleveled, lucky, or lying through their teeth because they couldn't stand the fact that they were getting their asses handed to them by a goofy sitar player. It took me two times to beat him, which isn't much, but I still had a hard time with him, just like a whole lot of people did.
Two:
Xaldin. I dreaded fighting him. I knew he'd be hard because more people complained about him than about anyone else. Yea, I can see why. Still, I did better against him than I thought I ever would, but it helped that I was fairly high level at the time. On the first try, Mickey appeared, and I got my ass handed to me. On the second try, I didn't even need Mickey, and beat him. Yay. Doesn't change the fact that he is damned hard thanks to being able to summon a dragon to blow on you. Garh.
ONE:
Xigbar. I went into this battle thinking that I'd have an easy time. WRONG. Xigbar was HELL ON EARTH!!! AAAGH! It took me around seven times to beat him, AND I had to take time to level up before I even stood a chance. I also had to switch keyblades. The problem with Xigbar is that it's easy to lose patience and try to run into him. HE USED GUNS. You do the math hurrr. Even when being patient, Xigbar can do a great deal of damage, is hard to get to, and is even worse when you're close to beating him. So, he has the honor of being THE MOST PAINFULLY DIFFICULT FIGHT IN KH2!!!!! Not many people complain about him, but I'm one of them and just thinking about it give me a headache.
Next up: Most painfully difficult battles in KH1.
