It just occurred to me that "disordered" or not, could they have been evil out of choice? Or out of simply losing their Hearts and because of that, the "dark side" is all that remains? Meh, Hearts or not, they choose their conduct.
Axel, Demyx and Roxas are probably the only three who chose to be the least disgusting. It's all about choice, really.
